Electrical Machines of Loughborough
Brush
or Brush Bagnall were the builders of the first mainline diesel electric
locomotives of the Ceylon Government Railway, the Class M1 locomotives.
Brush
also built the Class M7 locomotives which are still running on
the Sri Lankan Railway.
Brush
Electrical Machines, as they are now known, is still a thriving business in Loughborough, United Kingdom.
These
photographs were taken very recently (27th of May 2012).
The pictures have been taken from the platform of Loughborough railway station

Hello Gyan, its amazing the stuff that you write on railways, and things connected with Sri Lankan railways at that. It makes wonderful reading to fellow 'Ferroequinologists'. One could be excused for thinking you were working in the railways all your life, not the great forensic pathologist that you were!! Anyway talking of Brush, one cannot but associate the name of B D Rampala with that famous manufacturer. If not for him and the M1s, Brush would never have risen to be UK's one-time leading locomotive builder. But thats another story! All the best & Cheers.
